7. Mike Smith BSc CChem CGeol FRSC MCIWEM MIM FGS - Most would regard Mike as one of the founding fathers of contaminated land assessment in the UK. In the 1970s he was Secretary of the ICRCL (Interdepartmental Committee for the Redevelopment of Contaminated Land) and could be said to be the 'inventor' of the trigger level. Subsequently he was Head of Contaminated Land at the Building Research Establishment and a Consultant at Monitor Environmental. He is now an Independent Consultant and Author specialising in Contaminated Land Risk Assessment.
